Welcome Message

Hello!

My name is Ms. Donna Givens, and I am proud to serve as both a Basic Skills Instructor and the School Librarian here in the Dennis Township School District. I have had the privilege of working in this amazing district for many years, and I bring with me a strong background in education, holding both traditional and advanced certifications in general and special education.

In addition to my current roles, I am actively pursuing a master’s degree in Curriculum and Learning with a minor in Library Sciences. This ongoing education reflects my commitment to growing as an educator and ensuring that I bring the most effective, engaging, and current practices to our students.

I am also a certified Orton-Gillingham therapist, using a direct, explicit, sequential, multisensory, structured, diagnostic, and prescriptive approach to support literacy instruction in reading, writing, and spelling. As part of the Basic Skills program, I provide targeted support in literacy across various grade levels, helping students strengthen their foundational skills and build confidence in their academic journey.

As the school librarian, I strive to make our library a welcoming and enriching environment where students can explore, discover, and grow a lifelong love for reading and learning. Whether it’s recommending books, guiding research, or sparking curiosity, I’m honored to play a role in each child’s educational experience.

Please know that I—and all of my colleagues—genuinely care about each and every student. I am deeply passionate about helping children realize their potential and believe in them wholeheartedly, every single day.

No matter the role I am serving in, I truly love what I do. I look forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and collaboration alongside our students, families, and fellow educators.

Warmest wishes,
Donna Givens
